NORDICO Stadtmuseum Linz

Das NORDICO Stadtmuseum Linz ist ein vernetzter, lebendiger Ort des Geschichten-Erzählens und innovativer Museumsarbeit. Es ist ein Haus der Geschichte der Stadt, das durch den starken Gegenwartsbezug seiner Ausstellungen auch ein Haus der Linzer Identität ist.

Die reichhaltige Sammlung des NORDICO ist auf Linz fokussiert und setzt sich aus folgenden Bereichen zusammen: Kunst, Topographie, Fotografie, Volkskunde und Alltagsgeschichte. Sie wird in der Schau 100% Linz exemplarisch präsentiert.

Parallel dazu beleuchten Sonderausstellungen stadtgeschichtlich relevante Themen. 2018 widmet sich das Stadtmuseum den Grünflächen und öffentlichen Plätzen. Stadtoasen. Linzer Gärten und Parks begibt sich ab Ende März auf die Spuren der Linzer Freiräume und fächert historische Fakten, malerische Ansichten, aktuelle Tendenzen und Zukunftsvisionen der Linzer Gärten, Parks und Plätze auf. Neben großen und geschichtsträchtigen Orten kommen auch kleinere und unbekanntere Plätze zu Wort.

Im Herbst 2018 wird dem Echo von 1968 in Linz nachgegangen. Die Gemeinschaftsausstellung mit dem LENTOS Kunstmuseum spannt erstmals – in einer Zusammenschau von Kunst, Architektur, Musik, Film und Literatur – eine Landkarte auf, in der Figuren und Momente der lokalen Geschichte einen Ort finden.

NORDICO City Museum Linz is a well networked, vibrant site of telling stories and histories and of innovative museum work. It is a house about the past and the present of Linz and the city’s identity with a strong contemporary relevance of its exhibitions.

The rich collection of NORDICO focuses on Linz and comprises the following areas: art, topography, photography, ethnology, and everyday history. This is exemplified in the presentation of the exhibition 100% Linz.

Parallel to this, special exhibitions illuminate themes relevant to the history of the city. In 2018 the City Museum is devoted to the nature and public places of the city. Urban Oases. Gardens and Parks in Linz sets out in late march to find traces of the open spaces of Linz, mapping out historical facts, picturesque views, current trends and future visions of the gardens, parks and squares of Linz. Along with large and historically significant locations, smaller and little-known places are also presented.

In fall 2018 a special exhibition will trace the echo of 1968 in Linz and Upper Austria. The joint presentation with LENTOS Kunstmuseum draws a map – in an integrated overview of art, architecture, music, film and literature – in which the figures and moments from local history find a place for the first time.
